 History of Pathways

The Pathways Nontraditional Program was established in 1997 to meet the individualized personal, social and academic needs of alternative learners. Pathways serves 7th-9th grade students enrolled within Littleton Public Schools (LPS). Students are able to earn credit in the following core academic areas: social studies, language arts, science and math. Pathways students also complete a comprehensive life skills program, including topics ranging from conflict resolution and anger management to communication and team building. Students can also enroll in a wide variety of elective courses, such as computer technology, art, video yearbook, and physical education.

 Assessments

Each student takes District assessments in Writing, Reading, Math and Science, as well as assessments that help to create a Personal Learning Profile (True Colors, Hemispheric Dominance and Learning Modalities).

 Needs-Based Instruction

Skills instruction is provided on the appropriate level and delivery method for each student based on subject specific assessment, teacher observation and their Personal Learning Profile.

 Experiential Learning

To meet the unique learning styles of the students, learning opportunities are offered throughout the year, such as: hands-on activities, real world applications, educationally based field trips, community service experiences, art and culturally based projects.

 Strong Research Base

Pathways is designed on principles supported by research including best practices in the classroom and The Discovery Program.

 Unique Opportunities

Extended experiential field trips, culture day, community service day, school-wide art project, daily community meetings, mentor groups, career weeks, parent empowerment meetings, community council, leadership council, and restorative justice are some of the unique learning opportunities offered to Pathways students.

A one year commitment is required for acceptance into the Pathways Program.
